POSTCARDS FROM THE FUTURE SERIES

This series of 24 paintings from 2009 to 2011 are oil and charcoal on canvas on panel.

“A postcard is more than a picture place message. They are a vehicle; a physical image with timely information, an implied method of transmission, a source and destination. And, they have substance in real time.
“While these paintings may appear as pictures (of somewhere), they also exist expressly as physical objects (like a postcard). Evidence of the visible support (the painted panel that is also part of the image) anchors the work in the present moment. They are paintings which are not only a place in the mind, but documents at hand.” —WL

“That’s the job of consciousness, to turn Now into Always, to mistake what IS for what was meant to be.”  —Richard Powers, The Overstory

“We are the echo of the future.” —W. S. Merwin
